4 Reasons Shaving Brushes Are Amazing!
A Shaving Brush You Say?
1. Lifts and suspends hairs
The number one reason to use a shaving brush is that it gives you a better shave. When applying shaving gel or cream with your hands you matt it down. Meanwhile, a shaving brush lifts the hairs up and suspends them in a rich lather. Because they’re suspended, the hairs are much easier to cut right at the base; shaving brushes will give you a closer and smoother shave.
2. Better quality soaps (no matter what you’ve been told)
Do you think that making soft creams that can be applied by hand is some kind of modern marvel? Soap makers have always been able to do that, but harder soaps and creams are better (you just need a brush). For starters, by being harder the creams are denser, and so they last a good deal longer. Hard shaving creams are generally the same price as their hand applied counterparts, even if you spend a little more, it’ll last longer and you’ll still end up spending much less in the long run. What’s more, soap makers know that brush users know a good thing when they see it, so soaps for brushes tend to be higher quality and have more sophisticated scents.
3. Fewer products in the bathroom
Many men will have a whole range of products for their morning routine. I’m sorry to say, they’ve been duped! Marketing has convinced them to spend more money by telling them that they need an exfoliator, pre-shave balm, shaving cream, and then a post-shave balm. Over the course of the year that adds up, and it’s a lie.
A shaving brush does quite a bit to exfoliate, and the act of shaving alone removes an entire layer of dead skin; you don’t need a special cream for exfoliating. The high-quality creams that accompany brushes are a 3 in 1 combination, pre-shave, shave, and post shave cream. Your grandad had a razor, brush, and quality cream. If properly cared for a brush will easily last a decade or two.
4. Shaving Brushes make you feel great
It just makes you feel like royalty, if you’ve never used a brush before it’s hard to describe, like trying to describe colors to a blind man. It’s the shaving equivalent of having a manual transmission in a little sports car on an open and winding Italian mountain road.
There are all kinds of bristles (boar, synthetic, and badger) and you can get handles made of bone, steel, wood, ivory, and all sorts of expensive things. The synthetic bristle creation has come a long way and we don’t need to be using animal products anymore. Premium synthetic bristles are just as good if not better and due to their waterproof nature they require less maintenance making them last much longer.
